Apples (Bouquet Event)




 We had an Apple Party last week since the apple trees are weighed down with apples this year! My friend Jen started out by leading the kids in an apple discussion. She had different size apples and compared the size, weight, feel (soft/hard), color. They sang a song about the “a” sound. They then read Ten Apples up on
Top (she chose the board book version which was perfect for the attention span of the group). Then she had the kids try to put the apples up on top of their own heads. She finished by having the kids put the apples on top a box, under the box, behind the box, etc. We then went outside to do our apple prints, apple bobbing and apple tasting. Any of these ideas can be done with one kid at home or a group of kids!

Sprouts and Seedlings (toddler/preschool and elementary age)...

Apple Talk (CIRCLE TIME)
The Stuff
The Prep
The FUN!
  • Different size apples
  • Ten Apples up on Top by Dr. Suess
  • Box or basket
Gather apples and book
1. Discuss the physical characteristics of apples

2. Read book and discuss

3. Move apples around an object (box, basket, etc)



Apple Prints (CRAFT)
The Stuff
The Prep
The FUN!
  • Apples
  • Paint
  • Plates for paint
  • Paper

Cut apples in half

Pre-cut your paper into an A (if you want)

1. Kids dip apples in paint and then stamp on paper



Bobbing for Apples (ACTIVITY)
The Stuff
The Prep
The FUN!
  • Tub
  • Apples (ones with long stems)
  • Water


Fill tub with water and add apples
This pretty much goes without explanation as many are familiar with apple bobbing.
1. With their teeth kids try to capture an apple by the stem!


Apple Tasting (SNACK)
The Stuff
The Prep
The FUN!
  • Apples
  • Apple dip (optional)
  • Plates

Put apples and put on different plates based on their type

1. Kids taste the different apples! Adults do too!
